ATLANTA (July 29) Planet Smoothie, a 137-unit smoothie chain, launched Planet Smoothie Cafe, a new fast-casual extension to its original quick-service concept.

The company said it expanded the concept in an effort to offer customers more healthful choices, including oatmeal, paninis and salads, which are all priced under $5. Planet Smoothie Cafe first opened this summer in Orlando, Fla., and since has sold over a dozen franchises.
