How do I get started?

The first step is to click on the "Franchise Application" tab and fill out our Franchise Application. This does not obligate you to Planet Smoothie in any way. The form is simply used to determine mutual compatibility. Upon receipt and review, we will contact you and arrange a personal meeting. If we both agree to proceed, we will give you our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) for review. This document contains all the information required by the Federal Trade Commission and/or the particular state in which your Planet Smoothie restaurant will be located. The FDD will enable you to diligently investigate our franchise operation.

What types of opportunities are available?

Individual and multi-unit franchise opportunities are available.

What is my initial investment?

Your initial investment will range from $184,300 to $328,800 for a traditional store.

What is the term of my franchise agreement?

We offer a 10 year contract with a 10 year renewal option to qualified franchisees. We are prepared to commit to a long-term relationship with you.

Is there an advertising fee?

Yes, currently the advertising fee is 2% of net sales for national advertising. This allows Planet Smoothie to compete with other national brand systems and continue to build the Planet Smoothie brand. Planet Smoothie encourages franchisees to work together in local advertising cooperatives. These cooperatives collectively seek to achieve a consensus to determine the appropriate use of these funds. Planet Smoothie retains the exclusive decision making power over the use of these funds, but the applications of them will always be for advertising and marketing purposes.

Is there a continuing fee?

Yes, the continuing royalty fee is 5% of gross receipts, excluding sales tax.

Will I receive assistance in finding a suitable location for my Planet Smoothie restaurant?

Yes. While it is each franchisee's contractual responsibility to find a suitable location, Planet Smoothie representatives will voluntarily assist you in this process. We will collectively review all available options and approve a location that is mutually agreed upon and meets our criteria.

Does Planet Smoothie offer financing?

Planet Smoothie will recommend SBA and lending programs, as well as leasing options with third-party sources to qualified franchisees. However, we do not offer direct financing. Qualified prospective franchisees, as Planet Smoothie franchisees, may be able to obtain a loan from a third-party institution. The loan amount may vary in respect to the applicant's credit history, the liquid assets value of the applicant, as well as the cash amount used by the qualified prospective franchisee as its direct contribution to the total investment in the franchise. Equipment leasing is an alternative to reduce the total funds needed, but may be more costly than the loan.

Who signs the lease?

Each franchisee will execute the lease for their store. Planet Smoothie will provide a rider to be attached to the lease.

How long does it take to open a Planet Smoothie restaurant?

We hesitate to give a specific time due to the number of variables that exist. Usually a restaurant opening may be completed within 120 days or more from the time a site is leased.

Do I receive training by Planet Smoothie?

Yes, our current training program consists of hands-on experience in operating a Planet Smoothie restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. This covers all facets of operating the Planet Smoothie business. A Planet Smoothie representative will then assist you at the opening of your first restaurant.

Can I sell my franchise?

Yes. As in any other business, your business can be sold. Planet Smoothie must approve the buyer and there will be a transfer fee to cover the legal and training costs.

How much income can I generate from a Planet Smoothie franchise?

In 1979, the Federal Trade Commission Rule on Franchise and Business Opportunity Ventures was passed. These laws and certain state laws were enacted to protect prospective franchisees by requiring the delivery of certain mandated information to adequately inform franchisees of relevant facts prior to the franchise sale. Planet Smoothie is prohibited from disclosing earning claims of any nature, except as may be provided by the FDD.
